ABOUT THE City Temple The City Temple is a very warm and welcoming evangelical United Reformed Church in the City of London and whether you are a Londoner or a visitor to the Capital you will receive an extremely warm welcome from Dr. Rod Woods, the minister, who is a big friendly American, Karen, his wife, the Elders and the cosmopolitan congregation. They call South Africa, and there are several South Africans in the congregation, the Rainbow Nation. Well the CT is the Rainbow Congregation with members from Europe, Africa, Asia, Australasian and the Americas. The CT is an evangelical and charismatic church. Worship led on a Sunday morning by the worship team and there is a most excellent music group which not only leads the congregation in traditional hymns but also lead and teach them modern worship songs and Dr. Woods and Karen, who are new mean singers and musicians have made a CD of worship music. After the service coffee, tea and biscuits are served in the main foyer when there is an opportunity to meet and chat to fellow worshippers informally. A project in which the CT has been involved in for the past few years, in fact they organise is 'The Dumanis Project' This is a project to equip the church with the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit so that it can be more effective in today's world. AMENITIES and ACCESS Parking The church has no car park, it is on street parking, but not in front of the church on Holborn Viaduct which is a red route. Even on a Sunday you would be ill advised to park outside the church. There are disabled parking bays in the surrounding streets but you will have a 100 - 200 yard walk to the church, and on weekdays these bays tend to get taken early in the morning and you are only allowed 3 hours. There is a NCP in Snow Hill about 500 yards away. On a Sunday there are no parking restrictions in force in any of the surrounding streets.
Access into Church Building To a person in a wheelchair entry into CT may seen a little daunting with the three steps from the pavement, but do not worry. As you look at the church there is a large door to your left, ask one of the duty elders to open the door, or better still, if you know you are going in advance, why not telephone and pre-arrange access with the administrators, Louise and Richard Evans. Inside the Church Building Once you are inside it is plain sailing, although the building has five levels there is a small lift (big enough to take a wheelchair sideways and a helper). There is a centre aisle with a slight slope in the sanctuary. The toilet suitable for people with disabilities is on the Mezzanine Level. A word of warning. When you enter the men's toilet on the top floor there is a short flight of stairs, so if you have a mobility problem use the facility on Mezzanine Level. LOCATION
